The AHA and The Children's Heart Foundation (CHF) AHA/CHF Congenital Heart Defect Enquiry Awards will support predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows who are actively conducting basic, clinical, population or translational research direct related to congenital eye defects.

All AHA grants share the following features unless noted in the program description:

  • Each applicant must be an AHA Professional Fellow member.  Bring together or renew when preparing an awarding in ProposalCentral, online, or by phone at 301-223-2307 or 800-787-8984. Membership processing may take 3-v days; do not wait until the awarding borderline to renew or join.
  • Scientific discipline Focus: The AHA funds basic, clinical, behavioral, translational and population enquiry, bioengineering/biotechnology and public health problems broadly related to fulfilling our mission to exist a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
  • Disciplines: AHA awards are open up all academic and health professionals. This includes simply is not limited to all academic disciplines (biology, chemistry, mathematics, technology, physics, applied science, data scientific discipline, etc.) and all health-related professions (physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physical and occupational therapists, statisticians, nutritionists, etc.).

  • Eligible Sponsoring Institution: American Heart Clan research awards are limited to U.S.-based non-profit institutions, including medical, osteopathic and dental schools, veterinary schools, schools of public health, chemist's schools, nursing schools, universities and colleges, public and voluntary hospitals and others that can demonstrate the ability to conduct the proposed inquiry, except for applications specifically related to the AHA's Establish for Precision Cardiovascular Medicine.. An investigator may be allowed to request approval to conduct piece of work outside the Us temporarily.
  • Applications will not be accepted for work with funding to be administered through any federal institution or work to be performed past a federal employee, except for Veterans Assistants employees.
  • Scientists whose projects involve coding and/or use large amounts of data are encouraged to employ and will be given admission to the AHA Precision Medicine Platform, a cloud-based solution for data analysis. Run across details below.
  • Percentage Effort: Unless specified, no minimum percent endeavor is required; however, the Master Investigator must demonstrate that adequate fourth dimension will be devoted to ensuring successful completion of the project.
  • Transferability: AHA project awards are fully transferable to make the awardee a "free agent" who is empowered to move to another qualified institution while retaining the accolade.
  • Rebudgeting: Unless specified, award budgets are unrestricted among allowable categories (salary/fringe of PI and essential personnel, supplies, equipment/computers, travel, human subjects, etc.).Funds may be re-budgeted between categories without prior AHA blessing.
  • Pre-proposals (letters of intent): Some programs follow a 2-part application process, as indicated in the chart of deadlines above. Part one is the submission of a pre-proposal (required letter of intent), applicant's biosketch, and other preliminary documents, every bit requested.

    • E-three Visa - specialty occupation worker
    • F-i Visa – student (predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows only)
    • G-four Visa - family member of an international organization employee
    • H1-B Visa - temporary worker in a specialty occupation
    • J-i Visa - exchange visitor (for not-training awards, yous must have obtained an H-1B or equivalent past the accolade activation appointment)
    • O-1 Visa - temporary worker with boggling abilities in the sciences
    • TN Visa - NAFTA Professional
    • DACA - Deferred Activeness for Childhood Arrivals

      Trainees are non required to reside in the United states of america for any menses before applying for American Middle Association funding. Trainees must maintain one of the designations listed higher up throughout the duration of the award.

AHA awardees may apply for a Precision Medicine Platform Workspace to perform data analysis

  • The AHA Precision Medicine Platform provides a friendly web User Interface that allows you to write code in various languages (for example, Python, R, SAS, and more), execute the code, and view the results as they are candy. Workspaces are equipped with pre-installed software packages ranging from car learning, statistical assay, data analysis, visualization, and genomic and bioinformatic tools.
